Mars Area School District collected $9,503.89 to benefit Susan G. Komen Foundation as part of an annual Pink Out & “Hats for Heroes” fundraiser, held Oct. 15.

Mars Area Primary Center brought in $1,391.75; Mars Area Elementary School, $2,274.80; Mars Area Centennial School, $784.54; Mars Area Middle School, $1,847.80; and Mars Area High School; $137. The Distric also collected $3,068 in online donations.

All District students (K-12) were asked to make a donation in return for the opportunity to wear a hat in school. In addition, all students and staff were encouraged to wear pink as part of a District-wide “Pink Out” to raise awareness for the cause.
