Mars Area Primary Center kindergartner Luke Dye received third place for his entry in Division 1 (K-2) of the 2022 Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) School Bus Safety Poster Contest.
The annual PennDOT contest asked students to design and submit a poster on this year’s contest theme, “1 Bus + 1 Driver = a BIG Impact on Education!” Dye’s entry (below) featured a street scene of a school bus transporting students from home to school.
Earlier this school year, Mars Area School District asked students (Grade K-6) to participate in the PennDOT Poster Contest. The District then selected first, second and third place winners in each of three divisions and submitted the first place winners’ entry to PennDOT for the state contest.
In addition to Dye, other District-level first place winners were third-grader Emma Eriksen in Division 2 (3-5) and sixth-grader Alexis Riner in Division 3 (6-8). All District winners will be recognized during an Awards Ceremony to be held during National School Bus Safety Week (October) at the beginning of the 2022-2023 School Year.
