Primary Center Receives ‘Walk Around Mars’ Trophy

Mars Area Primary Center was selected to receive Mars Planet Foundation’s 2023 “Walk Around Mars” trophy.

This trophy is awarded to the Mars Area School District school that registered the most participants for the annual fundraiser. The foundation also recognized Heather Rhea’s first grade classroom, which had the most registrants, as well as the class’s participating students, first-graders Stephen Domski, Luke Dye, Ethan Kracht, Declan McClernon and Ava Miller.

The goal of the fundraiser (held April 16-May 6) was to collectively achieve enough miles (13,263) to make one lap around the surface of the Planet Mars. To achieve that task, each participant was asked to log a total of 26.5 miles throughout the six-week event.

Event proceeds benefit the foundation’s support of the School District’s curriculum and programs through teacher grants and scholarship opportunities. For more information, visit https://marsplanetfoundation.org/walk-around-mars.
