Several Mars Youth Wrestling team members will advance to the Keystone State Youth Wrestling Championships, to be held March 13-15 at Penn State University’s Bryce Jordan Center
The wrestlers qualified for the state championships at the Keystone State Youth Wrestling Northwest Qualifier, held Feb. 22 in Erie, Pa.
In the 12U Division, sixth-grader Hayden Hazi earned first place in the 75-pound weight class. Fifth-grader Camden Hull (60) took fourth place and sixth-grader Alex Carson (100) received sixth place in their respective weight classes.
In the 10U Division, fifth-grader Jackson Swackhammer (65) earned first place; fourth-grader Walter Covert (75), third place; and third-grader Colton Stepanic (55), sixth place.
In the 8U Division, third-grader Holden Hazi (55) earned first place; third-grader Chase Barkley, second place (67); kindergartner Layton Swick (74) fifth place; and third-grader Carter Barkley (60), sixth place. In the 6U Division, kindergarten Mario Alioto (61), took second place.
In the Girls Division, second-grader Shane Miller (49) earned first place and second-grader Carolyn Goehring (60) took third place in their respective weight classes.
