Visitors Required to Provide Valid Identification for Entry Into Schools

Mars Area School District has implemented the Raptor Visitor Management System at all of the District’s school buildings to further ensure the safety and security of all students, faculty and staff members.

When it comes to keeping schools safe, it is important to be aware of who is in the District’s buildings at all times. The Raptor system enables District staff members to better screen visitors, contractors and volunteers and will ensure a safer learning environment for all.

Upon entering a District building, all visitors will be asked to present identification, such as a valid Driver’s License, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the Raptor system. If, for any reason, a visitor does not have a Driver’s License, a staff member may accept any other valid form of identification and may then manually enter the person’s name into the system.

The Raptor system checks the visitor’s name and date of birth against a national database of registered sex offenders. No other data from the provided ID is gathered or recorded and the information is not shared with any outside agency.

Once entry is approved, the Raptor system prints a badge that identifies the visitor by his/her name and photo; the date; and the purpose of the visit. A visitor’s badge is not needed for those who visit a school simply to pick up or drop off a student, drop off an item in the office or to pick up paperwork.

The safety of students is one of Mars Area School District’s highest priorities and the Raptor Visitor Management System enables District staff members to quickly identify anyone who may present a danger.

Mars Area School District appreciates the cooperation of all parents/guardians and other visitors as the District continues to strive to remain proactive in the protection of our students, faculty and staff members.
