Pick-Up Procedures
AM Kindergarten
As Mars Area School District does NOT provide any Mid-Day transportation services, it is the responsibility of parents/guardians to arrange for the pick-up of Morning Kindergarten students.
Morning Kindergarten dismissal is at 11:40 a.m. All students will be dismissed through the FRONT KINDERGARTEN DOORS.
Parents/guardians are asked to enter via the Mars Area Primary Center parking lot and loop down to the Mars Area Elementary School to form the Student Pick-up Line, which begins with the painted marker near the stop sign in front of the Primary Center.
Parents/guardians MUST have their large District-issued vehicle window card, with their child’s name or the carpool group name, displayed on the vehicle’s dashboard, when entering the Student Pick-up Line. (District-issued vehicle window cards may be obtained in the Primary Center’s main office.)
A District staff member will radio the name of the student(s) indicated on the District-issued vehicle window card and the parent/guardian will be directed, to advance their vehicle to one of four pick-up points numbered and manned by a Primary Center staff member.
As vehicles advance to the pick-up points, Primary Center staff members will recheck the District-issued vehicle window cards. Students will then be sent from the building to the designated pick-up point to enter the vehicle. IMPORTANT – STUDENTS WILL ONLY BE PERMITTED TO ENTER A VEHICLE FROM THE CURB SIDE.
Note: Parents/guardians WITHOUT their large District issued vehicle window card MUST park their vehicle in a designated parking spot; enter the Primary Center, and sign out their student. NO CHILD WILL BE RELEASED TO A VEHICLE WITHOUT THE LARGE DISTRICT-ISSUED WINDOW CARD.
Once students have entered the vehicle and are secured safely, the vehicle may then proceed forward to exit the Primary Center parking lot.
PM Kindergarten & First Grade
ALL Afternoon Kindergarten & First Grade students who are being picked up or riding the bus will exit Mars Area Primary Center during the identified bus traffic time, 3:25 to 3:40 p.m.
ALL CAR RIDERS MUST PRESENT A NOTE WRITTEN BY A PARENT/GUARDIAN TO THEIR CLASSROOM TEACHERS. ONLY THOSE STUDENTS WITH NOTES WRITTEN BY A PARENT/GUARDIAN WILL BE SENT TO THE CAFETERIA DOORS TO BE DISMISSED AS A CAR RIDER. STUDENTS WITHOUT NOTES WRITTEN BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN WILL BE DISMISSED TO THEIR ASSIGNED BUSES.
Car riders MUST exit the building through the CAFETERIA DOORS located in the rear of the school via the Administration Office parking lot.
During afternoon dismissal, a Primary Center staff member will be stationed at the cafeteria doors. Car riders MUST bring their dismissal note, which will serve as their building exit ticket, to the cafeteria doors.
Parents/guardians who are picking up students MUST park their vehicle and report to the cafeteria doors to sign the dismissal note. Note: If someone other than a parent/guardian is picking up a student, that person’s name and relationship to the child should be included in the dismissal note that is provided to the school. The school will NOT rely on the student to provide such information.
